Privacy Policy

SoberRise ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name you choose.
Sobriety data. Your sobriety start date, check-ins (mood ratings and optional notes), journal entries, and craving logs are stored securely in our database (Supabase). This data is private to you unless you explicitly choose to share something in the community.
Community posts. Posts you share in the community feed are anonymous — your display name is never attached. We store the content and reaction counts.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog to collect anonymised, aggregated usage data (which features are used, session lengths) to improve the app. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog.
Purchase information. Subscription purchases are handled by RevenueCat and your device's App Store or Google Play. We receive an anonymised customer ID and entitlement status — we never see or store your payment card details.
Push notifications. If you grant permission, we store a device push token to send you reminders and motivational messages. You can disable these at any time in the app's notification settings.
2. How we use your data

- To generate AI-powered craving coaching and daily messages (data is sent to OpenAI via a secure server-side proxy — never directly from your device)
- To send notifications you have opted into
- To improve the app through anonymised analytics
- To process and manage your subscription
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.
3. AI and OpenAI
SoberRise uses OpenAI's GPT-4o to generate personalised craving coaching responses and daily messages. When you use the SOS or daily message features, relevant context (your days sober, current mood, and journal summary — never your full journal or email address) is sent to OpenAI's API via our secure server. OpenAI's use of API data is governed by OpenAI's API Usage Policy. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models.
4. Data storage and security
Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure you can only access your own data.
5. Data retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing privacy@soberrise.com. Deletion is processed within 30 days.
6. Children
SoberRise is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@soberrise.com.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of SoberRise after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
